On a crisp Saturday afternoon Team Personal visited Ridlins stadium in Stevenage with Herts Disability Sports Hub (HDSF).
The Herts Disability Sports Foundation was originally set up in Welwyn Hatfield to promote the development of disability sport across Hertfordshire. The Foundation supports inclusive training and coach development opportunities for participants, coaches and day service staff; providing a holistic approach to inclusive sports development.
As the young athletes started to arrive the clouds and rain threatened to throw a spanner in the works, however, with what seemed like perfect timing none other than double Paralympic sprint champion Libby Clegg arrived! Along with Libbys two gold medals she seemed to bring the sun with her as the clouds drifted away as the children begun to warm up.
After limbering up the young athletes and Libby all took to some hurdling, jumping and running drills which brought more smiles and laughter to group. After this Libby gave a speech detailing her incredible journey culminating with her achievements in Rio last year. Libby was given a round of applause and the children jumped at the opportunity to take pictures with Libby and her medals.
After a great day of activities and inspiring visit from Libby the children gave a huge cheer to signal their enjoyment. HDSF put on a fantastic day and here at Team Personal Best we were thrilled to be there, involved and inspired!
