What is Team Personal Best?
Team Personal Best is a programme of athletics-themed community activity taking place across the country to celebrate the record-breaking Summer of World Athletics. Up and down the country we will be encouraging clubs, community groups and organisations to host an athletics-based event for you to attend and get involved with.
No matter your ability, age or background we hope you will find a fun and inclusive athletics-themed activity near you to be part of.
When do the Team Personal Best Events take place?
The majority of Team Personal Best events will be taking place around the country between May and September 2017. Use the event finder on this website to find out what’s going on in your area and to search for upcoming events.
What type of activities will be part of Team Personal Best?
There will be a wide range of events nationwide. Each has an athletics-theme in celebration of the summer. This includes everything from club and community open days, family and school sports days, athletics quiz nights, come and try volunteer sessions and athletics-themed dance competitions.
Do I have to pay for a Team Personal Best event?
This all depends on who is organising the event. Some organisations and clubs may charge whilst others will be free to participate in.

Do I need to book onto Team Personal Best events?

Absolutely not! Team Personal Best is a national programme with events and activities delivered up and down the UK. And if you can’t find something nearby why not consider organising something? Visit the Team Personal Best website to find out more details on how to register an event.
How do I contact the event organiser?

If you have any questions at all get in touch with the event organiser to find out more. How do I book onto a Team Personal Best event?
TeamPersonalBest.org is an information only website. We are here to tell you about all the great things going on across the nation this summer to celebrate grassroots athletics. Information about attending an event should be clearly stated on the relevant event/activity page here at TeamPersonalBest.org. If something isn’t clear get in touch with the organiser whose details are given on their event/activity page.

We are encouraging event and activity organisers to be as inclusive and accessible as possible. If it is not clear from the event activity page then please contact the relevant event/activity organisers directly using the contact details provided on their event/activity page here on TeamPersonalBest.org.uk We encourage that event organisers make events as accessible as possible and accessibility information should be included on the event page.
Is Team Personal Best for my age?
We are hoping event organisers will be running activities for all ages and abilities. Please see the event description for age category for the event. How do I know what Team Personal Best event is suitable for me?
Team Personal Best aims to provide athletics delivery for all ages and abilities. Is there parking at the venue?
This will all depend on the venue. If it’s not clear on the events/activity page then check with organisers to confirm by using contact details on the event/activity page here on www.TeamPersonalBest.org.uk
Will there be showers/changing rooms at the venue?
This will all depend on the venue. Most athletics and running facilities will have local facilities identified but where events are taking place in parks, public spaces or other outdoor spaces, this is less likely. What safeguarding and DBS procedures are in place?
Within the Terms and Conditions of setting up a Team Personal Best event providers have agreed to ensuring all events follow either England Athletics Safeguarding and Welfare procedures or the procedures of their own organisation where relevant. If you would like to see a copy of those adopted by England Athletics affiliated organisation, please follow this link or contact the event direct for more information about their own procedures.
What happens if the event gets cancelled? Will I be notified?
Hopefully this will not be a problem, but all Event Organisers commit to publicising any cancellations as best they can. If in doubt get in touch with them via the contact details given here on TeamPersonalBest.org.uk
Can I come to spectate at a Team Personal Best event?
It’s best to check with the event organisers if the venue has suitable spectator space so feel free to contact them on the contact details given. Where an event is for young people we would encourage all parents to stay and spectate.

Team Personal Best is a great way of celebrating the Summer of World Athletics this summer.
Athletics-themed events are going to be taking place across the UK in 2017 as the nation prepares to celebrate what will be a massive year for the sport. Whether you want to host or just attend an event, there will be plenty of ways to get involved in Team Personal Best.
I have signed up to Team Personal Best updates, what next?
The next step is to upload your event onto Team Personal Best website. Once that’s done, one of the team will check and approve the event and you are ready to start promoting. All event organisers will be sent a marketing guide and templates in May to help get the word out.

Does Team Personal Best charge for the use of website?
No, the website is completely free to use for event organisers and those looking for an activity to get involved with.
Can Team Personal Best events charge participants?
Yes. It is the event organisers decision how and if to charge for their events. So please make it clear on your activity/event page here on TeamPersonalBest.org. The website does not offer an online payment facility so you’ll need to arrange for this yourself. It is important to note that organisers are responsible for ensuring any charges meet all government regulations and Team Personal Best and England Athletics accept no liability in this regard.
What age does Team Personal Best cater for?
All ages! We are encouraging all event organisers to make Team Personal Best events as accessible as possible and try to engage with different ages. Now is your chance to reach parts of the community you haven’t managed to in the past.
If you want to target a specific age group, think about what activities might interest them whether that’s trying pole vault training for the first time or volunteering in roles like timekeeping or as media assistants.
I am a new organisation delivering athletics, where can I get support?
Team Personal Best have a small team working on supporting you with the website, events and marketing. To get in touch please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
How long will the Team Personal Best website be live for?
The Team Personal Best website will be live until at least 30 September 2017.
How long does my Team Personal Best event have to last?
However long you want! This is about providing an event or activity that your community, club or group want. Your event should be designed around the participants, spectators and attendees you want to attract. You can register one-off events or events that happen more than once and they can last any number of hours or days. We are encouraging event organisers to hold events between May and September 2017.

Who is responsible for the delivery of Team Personal Best events?
The event organiser has overall responsibility for the event and are responsible for ensuring it is delivered according to all local and national regulations, policies and relevant laws. Who is responsible for the Team Personal Best website?
England Athletics are responsible for the maintenance and general website management. However, Team Personal Best event organisers are responsible for the upkeep and information on their specific Team Personal Best page.
Where can I download marketing resources for my Team Personal Best event?
Marketing resources will be available from May 2017 and can be accessed from the link on your confirmation email. Alternatively, email email@example.com for anything specific you would like and we might be able to help!
All Team Personal Best event organisers will be given access to an event marketing guide which will be full of tips, advice, and templates to use.
